27 Jul Are You Using A Password Manager in Your Digital Life?
In this day and age, I can’t believe all of the people I meet who are either not using strong passwords or they have very weak passwords to access their digital accounts. If you were to ask me what my Facebook, Dropbox or any other account password, I couldn’t tell you. What I can tell you is that all of them are different, at least 12 characters long, as well as being a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. In many cases, I employ two-factor authentication for access to the account. Some of you are thinking, how can he access his accounts. Well, that’s where a password manager comes to the rescue.
I’ve been using one for the past five or more years. As a result, I’ve been very disciplined about changing passwords across accounts several times per year and religiously generating strong passwords for every new account I create. It has been very easy to do using LastPass, my password manager of choice. I can also create secure notes, fill forms with address and payment information, while having access to all of this information on any mobile device. Multi-factor authentication gives me that added security of a second check for many of my critical applications. It really has been an effective tool for me in both my business and personal life.
An article I came across from IDG prompted me to write about this topic and share my experiences. A recent evaluation of the space revealed some of the best password manager out there and available to you. LastPass was their top pick for a variety of reasons, but there are several other good ones available. Take a few moments to read the article to learn more about how these tools can save you from the heartache and hassles of a data breach. Granted, at first, it will take you a few minutes to get everything organized, but once done, it will be well worth the effort. More importantly, you will have peace of mind knowing that your digital accounts are safe.
